Maca Lovin' Latte

I'm so pumped for summer! I've been in summer mode despite just a few days ago when I was freezing and broke out my sweats and wool socks. Summer to me means bike riding, going to the beach, longer days, farmers markets, watermelon, and concerts (just to name a few)!

Now on to my topic and latest coffee alternative recipe obsession that you will love!

I've been on a maca kick lately because I've noticed the difference it's made in my energy levels and for it's amazing healing properties. Here's why...

Maca is a root that grows in the Andes mountains of Peru. It's the highest altitude growing plant in the world! This root has been used as a food source for hundreds of years, and many Peruvians use it for its medicinal purposes.

Maca root contains large amounts of amino acids, carbohydrates, minerals (including zinc, magnesium and iron) as well as vitamins (B1, B2, B12, C and E).

Maca is one of the few herbs/foods known that is a true “adaptogen.” These kinds of herbs have the ability to “adapt” to an individual body and provide the specific healing and support most needed in that individual.

All you need is a blender and 5 minutes to make it.

Maca Lovin' Latte

*2 cups warm water (not hot!)

*1 cup unsweetened nut, rice or seed milk (I used my homemade brown rice milk) *1 tbsp coconut oil *1 tsp maca powder *1 tsp chia seeds *¼ tsp cinnamon or 1 drop doTERRA cinnamon

*¼ tsp organic vanilla extract *¼ tsp ground ginger or 1 drop doTERRA ginger *1 date, pitted *pinch of sea salt


In a high-speed blender, add warm water followed by the remaining wet and dry ingredients.

Blend on high for 15-20 seconds and serve. Sprinkle with organic cinnamon on top if you’d like!
