Chocolate Cherry Cleanser

Happy Spring!

Even though it still feels like winter here in NJ. :(

Despite the cold temps, I’m focusing on the feeling of Spring by listening to music that is uplifting and makes me happy. And if you know me, Stevie Wonder is my go to. I refuse to wear dark-colored nail polish anymore and I’m beginning to add more seasonal Spring foods in along with smoothies.

I'm excited to share my latest smoothie recipe I made that will aid in detoxing the liver and is loaded with antioxidants. I must say, it's pretty delicious and contains chocolate. ;)

Adding in foods that are in season will naturally aid in cleansing your body and have the most nutrients. Two seasonal superfoods found in this smoothie are cherries and dandelion greens.

Dandelion greens have a diuretic effect on the body and detoxify the liver. They also help stimulate digestion, which will aid in assimilating nutrients from your food better.

Cherries contain fiber, potassium, vitamin C and can help reduce inflammation. The fiber and high potent cleansing properties of this smoothie will work on scrubbing the intestines and cleanse away any toxins from the winter. Plus the high amount of fiber from the chia seeds and fruit & veggies will leave you feeling full and satiated for longer.

Coconut water: high in potassium, aids digestion and very hydrating.

Kale: contains calcium and magnesium. Loaded with antioxidants, chlorophyll, and gives us that glow to our skin. It also contains lutein, which improves elasticity in skin.

Cacao: this superfood does not have an ounce of sugar and contains 21 times the amount of antioxidants found in green tea! Also high amounts of iron and magnesium and elevates the mood by boosting serotonin and endorphin levels in the brain.

Avocado: high in vitamin E, which helps to combat collagen breakdown and contains lutein as well.

Chia Seeds: very high in Omega-3's (even more than flax seeds!) a complete protein, and loaded with antioxidants.


  • ½ banana

  • handful of frozen cherries

  • 2 pieces of kale

  • 3-4 pieces of dandelion greens

  • ½ avocado

  • 1 – 2 TBS chia seeds

  • 1 heaping TBS cacao powder

  • 1 cup of coconut or purified water (add more water for thinner consistency)

Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend on high. Voila!
